11/10/2023 0 Comments Sons of the forest trailer![]() ![]() Javy Gwaltney also enjoyed The Forest, awarding it a 9 in his Game Informer review and concluding with: New variants of mutants with fleshy bristles and conjoined torsos will require new weapons to be bested – shotguns, stun batons, and more will aid you in the open world. And, of course, once you venture into dense forests or descend into pitch-black caves, horrifying enemies await. The eating mechanic – most notable when the player character kills a turtle and eats its raw meat (damn!) – is back as well. Collecting materials to craft makeshift shelters and hunting equipment has returned. I think he does need to rest from time-to-time, but he will gladly catch you fish until the sun explodes and the world ends.As you can expect, Sons of the Forests’ mechanics build upon the survival horror systems from the first game. Basically, whatever you tell him to do, he will do that until you tell him to stop. He can gather fish, collect sticks, and follow you around. Kelvin is your resourceful AI companion that can do all sorts of helpful things for you and your party. The key ingredient to all of this, though, is Kelvin. The UI doesn’t always do a great job of conveying that information early on, but once you know, you know. This means that if a treehouse requires 40 logs for the roof and 20 planks for the floor, you can’t dump the roof logs into the structure until you’ve invested all 20 planks. Even with this building style, though, you still need to invest resources in a logical order. Some structures can be built the old way by placing a translucent blueprint, and feeding it the required materials. Like I said, it can be a little janky, particularly on uneven ground, but most of the time, it works pretty well. With the press of a button, your character will snap the stick in two and start a fire. To build a campfire, hold a stick and look down. To make a spiked wall, put a log into the ground and look at the top of the log to fashion a spike. With your axe equipped, logs can be split in half and chopped into smaller pieces depending on the angle you’re looking at it from. It can be a bit finicky at times, and I imagine building massive, multi-story complexes could get a little tedious, but it’s impressive how intuitive the whole system is once you get the hang of it. ![]() This makes your base feel handcrafted and unique to you, or your group's specific needs and tastes. It’s more complex this time around, but far more rewarding because you are individually splitting and placing each log until you’ve built yourself a little home away from home. Building a roof requires you to throw down beams and struts before you start laying down panels. Then you can put down support pillars and build walls. Once you’ve found a suitable plot of land, you can just start splitting and placing logs to build a floor. While some structures can still be crafted with the translucent AR style blueprints, Sons of the Forest takes a more free-formed approach to building. So far, compared to the original, building and crafting has changed the most. In the water landing I had to kick open the chopper door, in the tree landing I fell out of the suspended copter, and in the snow crash the helicopter tumbled toward me.įrom there you need to gather any supplies you can find, and set up a temporary or permanent shelter. Each crash had a unique landing scene that fit the region. In the first save, the helicopter got stuck in a few trees, the second time I landed in the water just off the coast, and the third time I landed in the snow-capped mountain in the dead center of the island. I’ve started three different saves and each time I’ve crashed landed in very different areas, each with a unique setup. Your helicopter crash lands at a random spot, and it’s up to you to survive. Sons of the Forest is a co-op survival horror game that tasks you with finding and rescuing a high-profile family trapped on a mysterious island. Let’s answer that question in the most spoiler-free way possible. The long-awaited follow-up to 2018’s The Forest just hit early access, and you may be wondering if you should start playing now or wait until the full-release. Sons of the Forest is finally here and it kicks a significant amount of ass. Endnight’s long-awaited follow up to The Forest is finally here, and it's just as good as we hoped. ![]()

11/9/2023 0 Comments Helmet clip for redline flashlight![]() There are two main types of bike helmet lights : high-output lights and safety lights. If you feel like they aren’t as secure as you would like them to be, feel free to try out some homemade solutions. Take note of the type of straps that secure your light to your helmet or handlebars. After all, your light won’t be of much use if it falls off while you’re cycling. You should also be aware of the durability of your helmet light’s mount. These features will be especially useful when riding on dusty dirt roads or during the rainy season. Your light should be able to withstand drops from significant heights without cracking its chassis or damaging its internal components, but you should also be aware of any dust or water-proofing that a light may have. DurabilityĪnother thing you’ll need to look for in a helmet light is durability. High-mAh batteries will last longer than ones with lower ratings, assuming the brightness output is constant. When looking for a light that can last an entire night, look for its milliamp hour (mAh) rating. If you’re the type of person who loves biking at night, then a long-lasting battery is best. There is no standard duration for a helmet light’s battery, but anything that can last for over 12 hours should suffice. ![]() ![]() The battery life of a helmet light should be able to last a few dozen hours’ worth of run time, or as long as your usual trips would require. Mounting lights on your handlebar may be more favorable in some situations but if you’re creative and really want a helmet light, don’t be afraid to try out alternative solutions to make sure any light that you have won’t go to waste. Helmet lights are generally made to be compatible with most types of helmets, but there are some that may not fit the helmet you own. Very high lumen ratings are best used for pitch-black environments for obvious reasons, while low-intensity lights are better for urban environments they’re bright enough to offer good visibility while keeping other motorists on the road from being blinded. On the other hand, off-road or mountain trails will require lights that are over 1000 lumens bright to ensure maximum illumination. Light intensity is measured in lumens, and the amount that you need mostly depends on your location.įor well-lit cities, 200 lumens should be enough to offer enough light for the occasional dark street or alleyway. Unlike other pieces of protective gear, helmet lights are meant to prevent disaster rather than reduce the impact of one. If you’re fond of riding outside until the sun sets or if you like riding your bike at night time, then you should always have a light with you. It is arguably one of the most important things necessary when riding a bicycle, right next to a helmet.
